Meet Brett

A lifelong Clevelander, Brett is a proud father of two sons and a graduate of Benedictine High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Morehouse College, where he was instilled with values of leadership and service—principles that have shaped his life and career. After graduating from Morehouse College in Atlanta, he returned home to Cleveland where he earned a law degree from Case Western Reserve University.
Brett has always had a great respect for the law and justice. His father, Earle C. Horton, has been a practicing attorney for over 50 years, and his stepmother, Mabel Jasper, served as a judge on the Cleveland Municipal Court for more than a decade. Through their influence, Brett learned that justice must be applied fairly and that every person before the court deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
With 30 years of legal experience, Brett has had the privilege of representing key organizations that serve Cleveland, including the City of Cleveland, the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, and Step Forward. His extensive legal experience gives him a deep understanding of the issues facing the community, and he knows that a judge must be both experienced and compassionate in delivering justice for all.
Brett’s commitment to Cleveland extends beyond the courtroom. He has dedicated his life to mentorship and community service. Since the 1990s, he has been an active member of 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc., working to uplift the community. He mentors and tutors in local public schools, striving to embody the motto: "What They See Is What They’ll Be." He knows the importance of role models who demonstrate that integrity, hard work, and fairness matter.
As Cleveland Municipal Court Judge, Brett Horton will apply the law with sincerity, fairness, and respect for everyone who comes before the court. He humbly asks for your support and your vote on November 4, 2025.
